All Sierra County students in grades 6th through 12th—traditional and homeschooled—are invited to submit up to 3 original works of art. This is thanks in part to the encouragement of the art teachers and others at the T or C schools, donators, The Center Gallery Fine Art, and the Sierra County Arts Council.
All student applicants, even those not invited to the show, will receive a Tiger Art T-shirt designed by The Center Galley Fine Art staff. The Sierra County Student Art Show is a juried event. A panel of established local artists reviews the artwork and selects students they consider the best in their grades.
At the show, teams of local artists select the 1st-3rd place winners by grade in the Middle School (6-8) and High School (9-12). The judges also select the Middle School and High School Best of Show. All winners receive cash prizes.
Students are not charged fees for participating in the show or selling their art at the show or at The Center Gallery Fine Art (selected artists, in May). These shows offer young and aspiring artists an opportunity to discuss their art with successful local artists, sell their work, and meet local art collectors and gallery owners.
