This catch-photo-release tournament is open to any angler in any kind of water craft that isn’t gas-powered —(electric-powered allowed) — canoe, kayak, rowboat, etc—fishing with one rod at a time.

2025 Kayak Fishing Tournament Schedule
Friday May 16: 6-8pm – registration & mandatory board checks, captain’s meeting at the Elephant Butte Community Center
Saturday May 17: Legal launch and first cast at 6am, fish until 3pm, submit photos by 4pm.
Sunday May 18: 11am Awards ceremony at the Richard Cooper Training Center, Elephant Butte Lake State Park main gate.

Cash totaling over $5000 dollars is awarded to the top ten participants. Scores are calculated by totaling the five longest fish lengths (smallmouth, largemouth and white bass only).
