Sierra County Fair

Event Description

Arts, crafts, livestock, food vendors, community groups, and fun! Fair exhibits are open to the general public Thursday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.

October 6, Tuesday

8am-3pm: receive indoor department exhibits — home science, home arts, crafts, ag produce, decorative arts, ag mechanics, 4H projects
8am-4pm: rabbit check-in, early check-in available for junior livestock

October 7, Wednesday

8-10am — poultry check-in
8am-3pm — receive indoor department exhibits, judging at 3pm
9am: all pigs on grounds, weigh in at 9:30
10am: all livestock on grounds, weigh in 10:30 starting with lambs, then goats, then cattle
12pm: mandatory livestock exhibitors meeting — lunch by Johnny B’s
3pm: exhibit building closed for judging of entries
3pm: rabbit showmanship at the rabbit barn
5pm: (immediately following rabbit showmanship) rabbit / cavy shows
6pm: round robin showmanship, part 1 — beef and lamb

October 8, Thursday

8am-7pm: exhibit buildings open for viewing
8am: county-bred swine, market swine, breeding gilt, showmanship, peewee pig show at the old show ring
11am: poultry show, starting with open show (8 and under, Cloverbuds), with all others following at the old show ring
3pm: county bred goat show, market meat goat show, showmanship, breeding & pygmy goat, peewee goat show at the pavilion show ring
30 minutes following the goat show: round robin showmanship part 2 — goat and swine

October 9, Friday

8am-7pm: exhibit buildings open for viewing
9am: county bred lamb, market lamb and breeding sheep show, showmanship, peewee lamb show at the pavilion show ring
2pm: dairy heifer show at the pavilion show ring
5pm: breeding beef, county bred steer and market steer show, showmanship at the pavilion show ring
