About Percha Dam Park
Positioned along the Rio Grande and a major migration path, Percha Dam is a “must-see” for birders, as it is rumored to be “the best site for land birds along the entire Rio Grande.”
The dam was built in 1917, a year after the completion of Elephant Butte reservoir, to irrigate the farms of the lower valley.
The Park offers plenty of shade and is also great for fishing, picnicking and RV camping or camping. Showers are available near the campsites.
