September 11-13 is PICKAMANIA WEEKEND! While many events are on hold or cancelled for obvious reasons, the Black Range Lodge, with support from the Sierra County Art Council, is taking Pickamania to Facebook live.

See the lineup of performances here and check out this post for a preview. Anyone can tune in for free, but please consider making a donation to the Art Council. The live stream starts Friday at 6pm.

Sierra County Fair will also stream livestock shows and sales on Facebook beginning October 7. Shows will be open to competitors and immediate family only, while the Saturday sale is a ticketed event, with the price of a ticket going toward any purchases made.

Many other annual events have opted out for 2020. We are tracking cancellations here.

In other news, the silver lining to pandemic-related restaurant restrictions is – more outdoor seating and drive through windows! Johnny B’s, Sunset Grill, Hillsboro General Store and Grapevine Bistro are just a few of the eating spots that have made space for us to dine outdoors. Casa Taco and Sunset Grill added drive-throughs.

Online ordering is now available at several spots including Casa Taco, Hillsboro General Store, and (sandwich in a glass anyone?) Truth or Consequences Brewing Co..

And Point Blanc Winery, Taproom & Pizzeria expanded operations with a roomy deck.
