Event Criteria

In accordance with the rules of New Mexico Lodgers Tax, events published and promoted by Sierra County Tourism must be:

• open to all (exception: minimum age limits for adult-oriented events are allowed)
• not affiliated with a political group or cause
• not affiliated with a religious group or cause

Any events related to the normal operation of a business, for example a sale in a store, restaurant specials, or hotel discounts, cannot be promoted unless there is an additional tourist-friendly attraction — live music, a book reading, or etc — as part of the event.
